Things were not easy at all for AEK in the opening game of the Basketball Champions League Round of 16.

However, in the end, the “Queen” got the 88-73 win over Karditsa Iaponiki after dominating the last period with a partial 35-14 score.

Lukas Lekavicius (photo) with 28 points was the star of the show for the winners, Frank Bartley added 17 points, and Dimitris Floinis had 15.

For the guests, Brandon Jefferson with 19 points and Damien Jefferson with 17 were the top scorers.

Karditsa trailed just by one point (20-19) at the end of the first period, got the 37-34 lead at halftime, and entered the last quarter up by six (59-53).

However, the last 10 minutes of the game were all about AEK, starting with an 8-0 run for a 61-59 lead, and there was no coming back for Karditsa after that as the guests couldn’t keep up with the home side.
