It wasn’t easy, but Unicaja Malaga found the way to get the 90-85 win over Fitness First Wurzburg, opening the BCL Round of 16 the right way.

Nihad Djedovic, with 21 points, was the top scorer of the winning side,  and Kendrick Perry had 19 and added two very crucial free throws to make the score 88-85 with 11 seconds left.

Wurzburg’s David Muenkat got fouled, but missed twice from the charity line, and Perry, with two more, secured the win.

For the losing side, Davion Mintz had 23 points, and Marcus Carr added 19, which were not enough.

Still, despite a 49-34 halftime lead by Unicaja, the guests didn’t give up. The home team entered the last period up by nine (66-57) and kept the lead until the end, but with one minute left, Wurzurb trimmed the lead to one point (84-83).

With the game on the line, Unicaja closed the nine with six made free throws in six attempts and proved its quality and experience once more.
