Sam Dekker and Joventut Badalona reached an agreement to terminate their contract following a left shoulder injury and projected surgery, the team announced on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old combo forward was under contract for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. However, his return to the United States to address the setback was accepted as the best available option for all involved parties. Therefore, ending his spell with the team based in Catalonia.
A veteran of 205 NBA games, Dekker joined Badalona in November 2024, adding to wealthy overseas experience. The latest assignment sent him to Basketball Champions League Season X, powered by Ameresco SUNEL, and five appearances for 7.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.8 steals per contest. Combined with his earlier stint with Turk Telekom, he increased his total games played to 17.
Over the last two installments of Spain’s Liga Endesa, the Wisconsin product logged 39 appearances, including 4.6 points per contest over 12 games this season. In total, the former college teammate of Nigel Hayes-Davis and Frank Kaminsky was featured in 58 Badalona games, but recently had a reduced role compared to his 2024-25 journey.
The team coached by Daniel Miret currently leads Group K of the Champions League’s Round of 16 behind a 2-0 start, with a 10-8 domestic record ranking eighth in the ACB standings.

On Monday, Trieste, sitting second in the BCL’s Group L on a 1-1 tally, provided a medical update on Davide Moretti, with the 27-year-old point guard set for left Achilles tendon surgery. The decision was made upon a mutual agreement between the player and medical staff, following treatment in recent weeks and falling shy of resolving a difficult situation. The operation was scheduled for next Monday, February 9.
The former Texas Tech standout averaged 4.9 points, 1.0 assists, and 1.0 rebounds per game over nine appearances in the ongoing installment of FIBA Europe’s premier club competition, and 4.8 points per contest in Italy’s LBA UnipolSai.
