Wurzburg secured a victory in the fourth round of Group K in the Round of 16 of the Basketball Champions League, defeating Unicaja 80-71 on their home court.
Marcus Carr was the top scorer for the winning team with 16 points and eight assists, Brae Ivey added 15 points, while Davion Mintz finished the game with 14. On the other side, Tyson Perez led with 11 points, Augustine Rubit scored ten, as did Emir Sulejmanovic and Chris Duarte.
After a very close first half, Wurzburg played a fantastic third quarter. The Germans won it 24-12, pulled away to a double-digit lead, and maintained it without too much trouble until the end.
The victory by Wurzburg has complicated the situation in Group K. The German team now has one win and three losses, and in the fifth round, scheduled for next month, they will visit Joventut. Unicaja has a 2-2 record and will face Chalon in France in the next round.
