The Basketball Champions League market is buzzing with activity as teams retooled their rosters for the upcoming 2026–27 campaign on Monday.
UCAM Murcia made a major splash by adding Latvian center Marcis Steinbergs on a two-year deal. The 24-year-old, 2.07-meter big arrived after a five-year stint with Baxi/Kids&Us Manresa and possesses 42 BCL appearances, bringing floor-spacing ability and valuable experience to the Universitarios. Meanwhile, Turkish giants Galatasaray MCT Technic retained core veteran continuity by signing two-time Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion and veteran of 36 Champions League games Bugrahan Tuncer to a two-year contract extension.
Coaching carousels are also shaping the competitive landscape. Following Anton Gavel’s departure to FC Bayern Munich, BMA365 Bamberg Baskets appointed 46-year-old Jesus Ramirez as their new play-caller. Elsewhere, Trabzonspor reinforced its frontcourt by re-signing 29-year-old forward Ege Arar, who returns to the competition after his previous run with Galatasaray Nef, while Juventus picked up 22-year-old forward-center Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, following his dominating run in Cyprus with Keravnos. Further roster upgrades include Windrose Giants Antwerp injecting athleticism into their lineup by inking 24-year-old forward Jehloni James.
Teams getting ready to fight through the grueling Qualification Rounds are also making moves. Patrioti Levice successfully re-signed 23-year-old forward Gabe Dorsey, while CSM CSU Raiffeisen Oradea added seasoned frontcourt depth by landing Dan Akin, who has played 15 BCL games with SIG Strasbourg in the 2023-24 season. Rounding out recent extensive summer recruitment, Fitness First Wurzburg Baskets locked in 25-year-old forward Eddie Colbert III until 2028.
