Following AS Monaco, Manuchar Markoishvili is set to take over head-coaching duties at Galatasaray MCT Technic, according to Eurohoops sources.
The Turkish club has reached an agreement with its former wing to lead the squad into the next phase of the 2026–27 season. Last year, the 39-year-old Georgian tactician coached in the EuroLeague. His next move returns him to familiar Istanbul, where he previously suited up as a player between 2013 and 2014.
The managerial shake-up follows the departure of Gianmarco Pozzecco. Galata chose to part ways with the Italian strategist following a tough string of results that culminated in three consecutive defeats across all competitions. These blows left the Lions struggling with a 1–2 record in the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi and a winless 0–1 start in Group B of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season.

After retiring as a player, Markoishvili transitioned into coaching, working as an assistant for the Georgian national team and serving as the head coach at the club level with Titebi in his home country. He later joined Monaco, where he served as an assistant under three head coaches and periodically acted as the interim head coach before earning his official appointment.
The Tbilisi native now steps into a locker room undergoing significant personnel changes aimed at saving the season. Alongside the new play-caller, Galatasaray is finalizing a deal to reinforce its backcourt by adding 24-year-old playmaker KJ Simpson.
Tasked with reversing fortunes immediately, Markoishvili will focus on integrating his new point guard and steadying the group before the early-season deficits become too steep to overcome.
