The deal of Mateusz Ponitka with Basketball Champions League crown holders Iberostar Tenerife is now official, per an announcement by the player’s agent on Twitter.
Zalgiris Kaunas had made an attempt to acquire the Polish swingman but his choice was to stay with Tenerife and play in the Spanish League.
Ponitka, 23, will be joining the Spanish team following a one-year stint with Pinar Karsiyaka in Turkey. He finished the season with the team from Izmir averaging 10.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
