In the first game of the season in the Basketball Champions League, Neptunas defended their home court by defeating Elan Chalon (75-73).

The Lithuanians got the win in a thriller where neither of the teams could amount to a large advantage. Mindaugas Girdziunas kept his team in the game with 16 points in the first three quarters until Juan Palacios took control.

Adam Smith had also 16 points for Elan Chalon and he was their leading scorer.

The star: Juan Palacios was missing shot after shot until the last quarter. Scoring critical points in the decisive minutes and leading his team not just in points but also in rebounds, getting the first double-double of the season (19+10).

The key: The home team started the last ten minutes with a four-point deficit, but an 8-2 run gave them enough confidence to get the win.
