In a low scoring affair in Thessaloniki, Aris protected their home on Day 6 of the Basketball Champions League.

Afte a big fight Aris beat Sigidas Avellino at home 59-56. It was a close game from wire to wire as the visitors had a chance to tie the game in the last possession. Jason Rich tried to save Avellino but he missed a three-point shot in last seconds of the match as home fans celebrated.

The Key: The Greek team had more focus down the stretch as they won last quarter 20-12. The teams were tied with two minutes left on the clock at 55 but the visitors were cold at a crucial moment. Giannis Athinaiou made the game-winning shot for Aris with 15 seconds left on the game clock

The Star: Gary Bell and Panagiotis Vasilopoulos were the only players scoring in double-figures for the hosts. Gary nailed 16 points and “Panos” added 15 and he grabbed 8 rebounds as well.

Jason Rich wasn’t able to tie the game for Avellino, but he was their best scorer tonight with 16 points.

After this game, both teams have a 3-3 record in the Basketball Champions League.
