Medi Bayreuth will travel to Istanbul next week with a minor advantage over Besiktas after an 81 – 76 win.

It wasn’t the most spectacular first half of the competition but it was an exciting one. The German side headed the locker rooms with a 5-point lead (34 – 29) with Gabe York scoring 9. The American guard would finish as the leading scorer with 20 points while De’Mon Brooks added 15 and 7 boards.

DJ Strawberry, who paced the losing side with 18 points led the players of Besiktas. Josh Adams added 15 points and Erkan Veyselohlu 14. However, no matter how much they scored, York and Brooks were always answering in the other end.

York and Brooks actually helped Bayreuth grab a great lead in the fourth (67 – 52) but the visitors managed to reduce it to just 5 points. Expect a highly competitive Leg 2 game in Turkey.
