MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg made a big step to the quarter-finals of the Basketball Champions League after a huge win against EWE Baskets Oldenburg on the road 88-63.

Ludwigsburg stated their intentions early in the game as they were dominating the floor in the first quarter. The visiting squad made 8-0 run at the beginning building a strong 14 points lead after the first period (26-12) making this game one-sided affair.

Oldenburg’s best scorer Rickey Paulding was struggling in the first half and the hosts suffered because of that. He was 1/6 from the filed in the first half and his team was down by 13 points (43-30).

With a slightly better third quarter (23-19), Oldenburg tried to bring some excitement in this game. That didn’t last long as they completely collapsed in the last period.

Same as in the first quarter the Ludwigsburg was the better team crushing the hosts as they won the fourth quarter by 16 (26-10).

Elgin Cook and Justin Sears were calling the shots tonight. Cook finished the game with 20 points and 7 boards while Sears added game-high 21 points.

Paulding woke up in the second half as he finished the game with 15 points for Oldenburg, but that didn’t cut it.
