Venezia and overtimes are almost synonymous and that makes everything that happened in round 2 not surprising at all.

Chances are if you are watching Umana Reyer Venezia in the Basketball Champions League, that the game will include overtime.

To be exact, the latest win of the Italian team in the BCL included a double-overtime against UNET Holon. When all was said and done, a total of 209 points (111-104) were registered, which tied the overall record for all Basketball Champions League matches.

Which was the other 209-point game? Last season’s triple-overtime win of Reyer Venezia over Banvit (108–101).

In total two Basketball matches were decided after playing three overtimes. The first one was Radom beating PAOK 93–85 (6–6, 8–8, 14–6) in 2016–17 and the second the 108-101 win of Venezia over Banvit (11–11, 4–4, 13–6).

The overtime virus seems to be contagious, especially this season. So far we had three double-overtime games in the season in just two weeks of action. Felice Scandone beat Nizhny Novgorod 93–100 (15–15, 3–10), AEK Athens prevailed over Nymburk 93–94 (4–4, 7–8) in 2018–19 and of course Reyer Venezia beat Hapoel Holon 111–104 (12–12, 17–10).
