At least four people died and several people were injured (according to the latest reports) on Tuesday night as a lone gunman opened fire in the French city of Strasbourg.

At the same time, nearly three kilometers away from Strasbourg’s Christmas market, local team SIG Strasbourg played against Petrol Olimpija for Basketball Champions League. The game was completed uninterrupted, though, for safety reasons, the attendees were requested to remain in the arena, as ordered by local authorities.

5,034 people remained in Rhenus Sport for at least two hours after the game, while the evacuation started after 12:30 AM (local time).

In the interim, Ali Traore tried to lift the spirits of the crowd by singing classic French Christmas song “Petit Papa Noel”, before the crowd started singing the French national anthem in unison.
