Behind a great offensive performance by Jeremy Senglin, Nanterre got the job done in Istanbul against Besiktas

Besiktas started the season as one of the most ambitious teams of the Basketball Champions League, but Nanterre 92 proved to be much more resilient, getting the 62-60 road win and also qualifying to the quarterfinals.

The French team had the advantage after getting the  68-59 win at home in the first leg of the Round of 16 and with Jeremy Senglin scoring 18 points kept things in check, despite scoring just seven points in the opening quarter.

However, Besiktas had also trouble to score the ball tonight in a game where offensive efficiency was badly needed since the Turks had to win by 10 points in order to advance. Kyle Gibson scored 15 points, Phil Pressey had 17 and Ivan Buva added 13 points each, but those numbers were far from enough.

Besiktas led by eight points (32-24) at the start of the second half thanks to a 6-0 run, but Haukur Palsson’s answer was two threes, which cut the hosts’ lead to four points (34-30) and Nanterre kept things close until the end.
