Securing a comfortable lead following a 17-0 run in the third quarter, Neptunas Klaipeda went on for the 86-80 win over Besiktas Sompo Sigorta on Wednesday.
Simas Galdikas with a season-high 14 points paced Tomas Rinkevicius’s squad in the Basketball Champions League Regular Season Gameday 6 affair. Tomas Delininkaitis followed with 13 points, Osvaldas Olisevicius put up 12 points, and Zygimantas Janavicius and Deividas Gailius added 11 each.
The Lithuanian club broke a 45-45 tie with a 17-0 run, responded to a 10-0 run powered by the visitors to begin the last quarter and improved to 4-2 in Group D. Defensive effort was the difference at Klaipeda’s Svyturio Arena.
The reaction from Dusko Ivanovic’s players cut the deficit to five points, but to no avail. Shaquielle McKissic’s game-high 27 points did not prevent the drop to 2-4. Jordan Theodore posted 21 points.
