A solid start and a strong finish to the second period made the difference for Peristeri winmasters in the 71-64 victory versus VEF Riga on Wednesday evening, third straight in Basketball Champions League Group C. The prevailing side didn’t even need Kingsley Moses at Riga.

Yanick Moreira with 19 points and ten rebounds including six offensive boards ensured the Greek team holds on beyond the rocky third quarter. Panagiotis Vasilopoulos and Will Hatcher followed with 15 points each in the Regular Season Gameday 9 affair.

Nikos Papanikolopoulos’s side jumped to 6-3 by completing the two-game sweep over the Latvian club. Janis Gailitis’s fell to 1-8 with its fifth home loss in a row, eighth straight overall in BCL.

Alexander Madsen’s early exit due to injury added on the hosts’ struggles. Lester Medford poured a team-high 14 points, Arturs Kurucs put up 13 and Janis Blums 12 in losing effort.
