After the success of both Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments at the Olympic Games played in Paris in the summer of 2024, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis will continue being involved in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games.
As officially announced by FIBA with a press release, “FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis will serve on the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) Council,” the statement says.
“The General Assembly of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations, consisting of 30 International Federations as Full Members and five Associate Members, voted to elect new Council members during its annual meeting, which was held in Lausanne, Switzerland on June 11,” it adds.
Andreas Zagklis will serve “as a member for the next four years”, in the 2025-2029 mandate, alongside several other representatives of International Sports Federations, such as Nenad Lalovic, President of United World Wrestling, and Jean-Christophe Rolland, President of World Rowing.
The statement concludes with ASOIF’s mission, which is “to unite, promote, and support the Summer Olympic International Federations.”
“It also advocates for its member International Federations’ common interests and goals, and represents them on matters of collective interest in the Summer Olympic Games, Summer Youth Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement,” FIBA’s press release ends.
