FIBA met for the first time today in Munich not only with the national leagues and the national federations, but also with the clubs which may decided to join the new Champions League.

However, on the financial aspect of the project, the figures on the table are not what someone would expect. According to many sources all over Europe, the guaranteed money for the 32 clubs which will take part in the new league for the 2016-17 season are a total of 2,3 million euros. That’s close to 70.000 euros per club.

This amount may end up being bigger, if there are more revenues for the new league, still it can’t be compared with the 30 plus million euros which are guaranteed for the 16 Euroleague clubs. It’s obvious that unless something drastic happens, the Champions League’s revenues can be compared with those from Eurocup and not with Euroleague.
