Reacting to the decision of AS Monaco to suspend Elie Okobo, Bahcesehir Koleji hopes to pick up the French star and boost the bid for success in the FIBA Europe Cup and Turkiye Sigorta Super Ligi.

Okobo, 26, is targeted by the Istanbul outfit, according to Eurohoops sources.

Due to transfer rules in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Okobo is prohibited from moving his talents to another club of Europe’s premier club continental competition. Also, La Roca Team is demanding a contract buyout to release the player.

The two-time champion of France’s Betclic Elite and former NBA player with the Phoenix Suns was suspended by Monaco due to a verbal incident with teammate Donatas Motiejunas during the meeting with Olympiacos in the Peace and Friendship Stadium, SEF, on Thursday. Following the Regular Season Round 19 contest, he was sanctioned for violating internal rules.

Leading to the unexpected setback, Okobo averaged 10.2 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per contest over 19 appearances, including three starts under the guidance of head coach Sasa Obradovic in the 2023-24 installment of the EuroLeague.

Forced down to 10-9 with two losses in a row during the preceding two-game week, Monaco jumps straight into a brand new double-game week at the continental level with a home matchup versus Baskonia on Tuesday and a trip to Greece to face Panathinaikos Aktor on Thursday.

Bahcesehir Koleji is 2-0 in Group L of the FIBA Europe Cup and 7-8 in the BSL.
