Manila, Philippines – Steve Kerr is fighting with the national team of the USA to win back the title of world champions in the FIBA World Cup, which was lost back in 2019.

However, he feels also like a world champion winning the NBA, something he has done with the Warriors.

There’s a whole debate started by USA star sprinter, Olympic medalist, and World champion Noah Lyles who said that it’s a mistake to call the NBA champions world champions because they don’t face global competition.

Former NBA champion and current French national team GM Boris Diaw also talked to Eurohoops on the matter, supporting Lyles’ opinion.

However, when Kerr was asked if he felt like a world champion winning the NBA title, or winning the FIBA World Cup, he answered with a simple word: “Both“.

Speaking about the game, coach Kerr added: “They got 22 offensive rebounds, they executed, tried to pound us inside, but I’m proud of our guys. It was not our night offensively, We’ll look at the tape, we didn’t move the ball well at all, and that’s why we got into trouble. These games are going to happen, you have to be able to fight through them.”
