FIBA has announced the principles that will guide the Qualifiers Draw for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, marking the official start of the road to Qatar.
The draw will take place on May 13 at ALHAZM in Doha at 18:30 local time (17:30 CET), with FIBA Global Ambassador Carmelo Anthony set to host the event.
It will be streamed live on the official FIBA World Cup 2027 website, regional Qualifiers sites, and the FIBA YouTube channel.
Here are the Draw Principles for the European Qualifiers:
The 32 teams have been divided into 8 pots based on the FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by NIKE.
Pots 1, 4, 5, and 8 will be drawn into Groups A, C, E, and G.
Pots 2, 3, 6, and 7 will be drawn into Groups B, D, F, and H.
Cyprus (Pot 8) cannot be drawn into the same group as Türkiye (Pot 4).
The top three teams from each group will advance to the Second Round and form Groups I, J, K, and L.
