A busy start to the week for Dario Gjergja, with the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina welcoming him as the new selector of the senior national team heading to the Qualifiers of the FIBA World Cup 2027, and Limoges CSP announcing a contract extension.

Both deals concerning the 50-year-old tactician were confirmed on Monday.

At the helm of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Gjergja succeeded Adis Beciragic, who was in charge over the last few years, achieving 13th place in the recent EuroBasket 2025 and 18th in the 2022 edition. Starting from November 27 against Turkiye in Istanbul, the next challenge is in Group C of the European Qualifiers, with a six-game schedule stretching from Turkiye to Serbia and Switzerland. The top three seeds will carry their respective W-L records to Group J, alongside the top three among Great Britain, Iceland, Italy, and Lithuania, with a new six-game schedule to decide three countries advancing to the final stage of the World Cup.

The Croatian-Belgian play-caller carries previous international experience as the selector of the senior national team of Belgium since 2018. His efforts included reaching the final stage of the 2022 and 2025 editions of EuroBasket, resulting in 14th and 18th on the respective final standings.

At the club level, the Zadar native moved to Limoges by signing a two-year contract during the offseason after 14 years and 14 straight domestic league championships with Oostende, alongside additional success in recent Basketball Champions League campaigns. Early in his new job with the French club, he penned a one-year contract extension until 2028.
