Czechia secured a victory in the first round of World Cup qualifications, defeating Sweden at home with a score of 97-80.
Despite the loss, Ludde Hakanson played a match to remember, setting a FIBA World Cup qualifiers record in terms of assists.
Hakanson finished the match against the Czechs with 15 assists, surpassing his previous record.
The 29-year-old also set the previous mark of 14 against Slovenia in 2021, also played on November 28. The same number of assists had Germany’s Justus Hollatz, against Finland in 2023; Jordan’s Freddy Ibrahim, against New Zealand in 2022; and Mexico’s Paul Stoll, against Puerto Rico in 2021.
In the first match of Group H, Estonia defeated Slovenia away after overtime (94-93). Sweden will play their next game in three days at home, precisely against Slovenia.
