Stefan Joksimovic is one of the most interesting European prospects. Baskonia‘s young talent continues to improve every week and has earned the opportunity to represent Slovenia, his home country.
Joksimovic had a great debut with the national team. In a thrilling loss against Estonia, with Slovenia with a four-point lead in the last nine seconds, the 2008 young star had himself a night.
The 17-year-old forward scored 9 points with 4 rebounds and 2 assists in 22 minutes. He’s been the leader in the last FIBA U18 and FIBA U16 Eurobasket, and he’s ready to take the next step.
Joksimovic, the current Basketball Without Borders Europe MVP, has also played in the Euroleague (4 games) and the ACB (3 games) with Baskonia. His ability to score and play 2-3 positions makes him one of the most exciting prospects in the entire world.
Paolo Galbiati, in an inconsistent start to the season for the Spanish team, trusted the Balkan player to give him playing time with the first team.
Luka Doncic remains the youngest player to debut for Slovenia (16 years), but Joksimovic is one of the brightest talents for the country in the last decade. Next Slovenia game will be against Sweden (01/12), and Stefan will have another opportunity to show what he’s capable of.
