In a significant upset during the FIBA World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers, the Dominican Republic secured a commanding 87–79 victory over the United States at Oceanside’s Frontwave Arena on Thursday. Dominating the contest from start to finish, the Dominican squad built a lead as large as 19 points. The win was propelled by a standout performance from Jassel Perez, who recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Despite a valiant effort from Brandon Knight, who matched the game-high with 20 points, the Americans could not bridge the gap.
