Big win for Montenegrin team in FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

Montenegro recorded a surprising road win over Greece in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, improving to 2–1 and drawing level with the hosts in the Group B standings.

The visitors prevailed 67–65 in Athens, with Emir Hadžibegović scoring the decisive layup with 37 seconds remaining.

Montenegro then held on after Vassilis Toliopoulos missed a potential game-winner in the closing seconds, while Hadžibegović secured the rebound to seal the victory.

Zoran Nikolić led Montenegro with 19 points, while Hadžibegović added 10 and Derek Needham contributed five points along with six assists.

For Greece, Kostas Antetokounmpo scored 13 points, Kostas Papanikolaou added 12, and Elijah Mitrou-Long finished with eight.
