Allowing just 44 points, Uruguay earns a key road win in the FIBA World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers

Uruguay utilized intense defensive pressure to stifle Argentina and secure a 61–44 victory at Buenos Aires’ Estadio Obras Sanitarias on Friday. Starting the international window, the win broke a tie at the top of Group D in the FIBA World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers, allowing La Celeste to improve to 3–0. Joaquin Rodriguez paved the way for the team coached by Gerardo Jauri, finishing with a standout performance of 20 points, six assists, four rebounds, two blocks, and one steal.

In Group C, Brazil also moved to 3–0 after defeating Venezuela 94–84 at the UniBH Arena, fueled by a 25-point effort from Leo Meindl, with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet’s Yago dos Santos putting in seven points. Elsewhere, Colombia dominated Chile with an 86–78 win at Coliseo Antonio Azurmendi. Finally, Panama earned its first win in Group D by narrowly edging out Cuba 84–81 at Arena Roberto Duran.
