The world of basketball will collide in the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2014 in Spain. The first step was taken tonight with the draw in Barcelona, which produced the following preliminary groups.
- Group A: Spain, Egypt, Iran, Serbia, Brazil, France
- Group B: Argentina, Senegal, Philippines, Croatia, Puerto Rico, Greece
- Group C: USA, Finland, New Zealand, Ukraine, Dominican Republic, Turkey
- Group D: Lithuania, Angola, Korea, Slovenia, Mexico, Australia
Group A will play in Granada, Group B in Seville, Group C in Bilbao and Group D in Gran Canaria. Τhe games will start on the 30th of August and they will conclude with the final on the 14th of September. Here you can see the full schedule of the competition and here‘s the format.
As it was decided by FIBA before the draw the two big favorites, Spain and USA, may cross their paths only in the final, if they finish on top of their preliminary group standings.
