Ville Tahvanainen dropped 24 points and grabbed five rebounds in 24 minutes, leading Finland to a 86 – 84 victory over Latvia in a preparation game ahead of Round of the World Cup Qualifiers, held in Riga.

Tahvanainen scored seven out of his team’s last nine points of the game and also hit a key 3-pointer for the 83 – 77 with 49 seconds remaining to more or less seal his team’s win.

Apart from Tahvanainen, Topias Palmi had 18 points and Alex Murphy 10.

For Latvia, that was overwhelmed by its opponents 12 3-pointers, Janis Strelnieks scored 18 points. Martins Meiers, Aigars Skele and Janis Timma had 12, the latter also adding five assists.
