Yao Ming joins Adam Silver and Patrick Baumann in their efforts to promote national team basketball

Yao Ming joined Patrick Baumann and Adam Silver at the FIBA World Basketball Summit in their effort to stress the importance of the national teams for basketball growth.

The first-ever FIBA World Basketball Summit opened its gates yesterday (3/10) and it has shown the insight of some of the most influential people in basketball for the two days it lasted.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and FIBA Secretary General Patrick Baumann noted the importance of national teams for the growth of basketball multiple times throughout the Summit. They believe that FIBA Windows will help towards that goal and also give a chance to the next generation of players.

On the closing day of the Summit, Yao Ming, former NBA player and current President of Chinese Basketball Association joined them in those efforts. He explained how important basketball national team is to China while also adding that the ‘passion for the ball’ has the strength to unite the world and that they are constantly making new plans to make that happen.

Andrei Kirilenko, president of the Russian Federation of Basketball, and Antti Zitting, president of the Finnish Basketball Federation were also present at the Summit along with ULEB President Tomas Van Den Spiegel who is also a part of the FIBA players committee.
