Olympiacos players got a weekend off after the loss against Anadolu Efes in EuroLeague which Nikola Milutinov, Janis Timma and Janis Strelnieks will use to help their national teams in the last game of the World Cup qualifiers.
Both Serbia and Latvia need the wins in their respective groups if they are to qualify for the World Cup in China this year.
Although Serbia can advance even without a win against Israel on Sunday (24/2), a victory in front of the home crowd would make it certain and Milutinov will help the team in the crucial game. Serbs also have high hopes of Bayern’s Vladimir Lucic joining the squad while Efes‘ Vasilije Micic has been under question due to injury problems.
Timma and Strelnieks will also join the national team. Latvia hosts Spain today (22/2) while they travel to Montenegro on Monday (25/2), for the game which could very well decide who advances.
