Serbia announces initial selection of FIBA World Cup players

Sasa Djordjevic picked out 34 players completing his initial selections for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

NBA-filled roster for Serbia ahead of the 2019 FIBA World Cup. The Serbian National Team is indeed among the strong sides of the competition and now has a preparation squad full of world-class stars to prove its value. The Serbian Basketball Federation announced Sasa Djordjevic’s picks for his initial 34-man roster.

Dragan Apic, Aleksa Avramovic, Stefan Bircevic, Nemanja Bjelica, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Nemanja Dangubic, Ilija Djokovic, Ognjen Dobric, Marko Guduric, Ognjen Jaramaz, Stevan Jelovac, Nikola Jokic, Nikola Jovanovic, Stefan Jovic, Nikola Kalinic, Dejan Kravic, Ognjen Kuzmic, Branko Lazic, Vladimir Lucic, Milan Macvan, Vanja Marinkovic, Boban Marjanovic, Vasilije Micic, Dragan Milosavljevic, Nikola Milutinov, Nikola Miskovic, Nemanja Nedovic, Stefan Pot, Miroslav Raduljica, Borisa Simanic, Marko Simonovic, Milos Teodosic, Dejan Todorovic and Rade Zagorac made the cut.

The above players will gather in Belgrade on July 18th before a series of friendly preparation matches including an away game versus Lithuania and the affairs against Greece, Italy and Turkey through the Acropolis International Tournament. Upon the final squad’s arrival in China, Serbia will go against Italy on August 23rd, New Zealand on August 25th and France on August 27th.

In the FIBA World Cup, the Serbians will kick off their campaign facing Angola on August 31st. Afterwards at Foshan, they will go against Philippines on September 2nd and Italy on September 4th. Provided they finish first or second in Group D, two among Spain, Iran, Puerto Rico and Tunisia will be their following opponents at Wuhan.
