Greek national team head coach Thanasis Skourtopoulos said that guard Kostas Sloukas will travel to China ahead of the World Cup and start practicing with the team. His participation in the tournament will be determined after he undergoes the last medical exams.

Here’s what Skourtopoulos said following Greece’s preparation win over Jordan, per the Greek Basketball Federation.

Sloukas will travel to Nanjing on Tuesday and will meet us there. He’ll be there on Wednesday night so he will join the team practices on Thursday. On Monday, we will be 100% certain [whether he’ll play] and we believe that after some practices, he will be able to contribute to the team with the talent he has. We expect him to do so. This doesn’t stop us from continuing on making the best possible choice of players. We have until 30 of August to announce the 12-man squad. We believe that we have made the right conclusions on the best possible 12-man squad. All the guys give their best and there’s competitiveness for the benefit of the national team.”
