Italy’s Luigi Datome doesn’t blame the refereeing for the loss against Spain but still didn’t think they were at the proper level

Italy lost to Spain in the FIBA World Cup Second Round and with it any chance to advance to the quarterfinals. Luigi Datome thought they had a good chance but failed due to bad offense. And he also didn’t think the referees were at the right level:

“We weren’t the best team but still, not playing our best basketball we had a big chance to win the game. That’s why I’m really sorry about it. I take of course big responsibility for this because the offense was very poor at the end. But I must say that, we didn’t lose because of this, but the level of the referees wasn’t at the level of this game. I have huge respect for referees job and I never say this in my life but I think they weren’t for this level of the game”, he explained.
