The Serbian national team is once again in front of a cross road as many of its players are expected to turn down a possible invitation to the Eurobasket and this situation may lead Dusan Ivkovic more easily to Fenerbahce

The situation in the Serbian national team is at least weird, but that can be a blessing in disguise for Fenerbahce/ Ulker. Are you a bit confused? Let’s try and clear things out. Dusan Ivkovic toured Europe recently and met every possible member of the Serbian national team, playing outside the borders of his country.

At this point only three top class players confirmed their will to play in the upcoming Eurobasket 2013 – which was presented on Saturday in London during the Euroleague Final Four – and that surprised coach Ivkovic. Milos Teodosic and Nenad Krstic from CSKA Moscow and also Nemania Bjelica for Laboral Kutxa are those three players. Dusko Savanovic of Anadolu Efes is still thinking about it and Milan Macvan, Zoran Erceg, Kosta Perovic and Stefan Markovic denied the possibility.

Coach Ivkovic is too stubborn and will not stop trying to present a good team, but he must also have a capable personnel and now that’s debatable. Duda has a contract until the summer of 2014, but also the option to coach simultaneously a club, something more than possible after what he heard during his tour. According to our sources it’s confirmed that Fenerbahce has called, but the Turkish club has to accept all his terms and give him the complete control of the team in order to lure him.
