The Union of Greek Professional Players (PSAK) published an announcement with proposals on the future of the Greek basketball, including a suggestion for the decrease of the number of foreign players from six to four in domestic competitions.

PSAK says that: “It’s a very good opportunity for the Greek players’ presence to become more intense in the big stages of Greek basketball and for the Greek player to become prominent. Apart from the profits for Greek Basketball, we will possibly avoid new departures.” Ifaistos Limnos and Rethimno are two teams that are withdrawing from participating in the first division. “Until now, Greek basketball has received multiple blows and Greek players don’t get the opportunities they are due to. Thus, it’s time for us to defend…”

“We also think that with the participation of Greek players in the games, the league will get a bigger interest, become more competitive and once again rise in the eyes of the public,” PSAK also says.

PSAK’s proposals are as follows:

A) For the players’ contracts to become active when the teams enter their preseason preparation period.

B) Decrease of the foreign players to four, for the 2020-2021 season

C) That two Greek players will be allowed to be transferred in the first leg of the regular season and one Greek player in the second leg.

D) Saturday’s games to be played after 17:00 and at any time on Sunday.

E) Common actions of corporate social responsibility with ESAKE (Greek Clubs Association/Greek League).

F) Increase in Letter of Guarantee
