Aris gave a good fight, but couldn’t surprise leaders Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos maintained a perfect record in the Greek Basket League with a 65-75 win over Aris in Thessaloniki.

Ergin Ataman’s side moved to 6-0, while Aris suffered its second defeat of the season.

Mathias Lessort led the scoring sheet for the winning side with 14 points, while Dinos Mitoglou was on the verge of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Marius Grigonis followed them with 10 points, while Jerian Grant was a point shy of a double-double with 10 assists. Kendrick Nunn debuted in the Greek championship but was scoreless, with two rebounds in nine minutes.

For Aris, Kris Bankston had 16 points, including a monstrous slam, Vasileios Toliopoulos added 15, while Roberto Galinat scored 11. Marcus Carr also finished in double digits with 10 points.

Greek League returnee Maroussi registered its first away victory in the championship almost 12 years by defeating Lavrio BC 93 – 88. Isaiah Briscoe had 24 points for the winning side while Miroslav Raduljica and Charis Giannopoulos scored 18 apiece.
