Panathinaikos did not start the game well at OAKA, but eventually secured the win against Maroussi (92–81) for the Stoiximan GBL.
After the game, Ergin Ataman talked about the many absences, as Kendrick Nunn (left ankle injury), Cedi Osman (discomfort in the left calf), Dinos Mitoglou (hamstring strain) were out, while Ömer Yurtseven was also absent due to illness.
The Turkish head coach of Panathinaikos commented on the absences, saying that he is expecting his players to return, with crucial EuroLeague games coming up:
“We managed with this situation for now. But I hope they return soon because time is passing and we need to win in the EuroLeague. We need some important players who are missing. We’ll see what happens with the doctors and the players. It’s very important. We have decisive games in the EuroLeague.”
As for whether he was satisfied with Panathinaikos’ second half against Maroussi, Ataman said: “Yes, because after the slow start we reacted very well. We took control. We played offensively. After the difficult double week, we got a clear win. Congratulations to my players.”
