Olympiacos secured a victory in the Greek Cup quarterfinals by defeating AEK Athens with a score of 81-67.
Coach Giorgos Bartzokas’ team was the favorite in this match, and they justified that role by taking advantage of the absence of Lukas Lekavicius, Dimitrios Katsivelis, and Dimitris Flionis to easily overcome AEK.
By halftime, Olympiacos had a lead of 46-24, which they easily maintained until the end to secure a spot in the semifinals. A potential issue for the Euroleague participant is that Tyrique Jones finished the match early due to knee problems. At first glance, it seems that it is nothing serious, but the center of the team from Piraeus will undergo tests on Wednesday.
Olympiacos: Walkup 7, Ntilikina (7 assists), Ward 8 (10 rebounds), Larentzakis 3, Vezenkov 16 (9 rebounds), Papanikolaou 6, Netzipoglou 2, Peters 14 (9 rebounds), Milutinov 10. Jones T. 6, Fournier 9.
AEK: Gray 10 , Skordilis 2, Brown Gr. 7 (8 rebounds), Fiesel 5, Arsenopoulos 6, Pecarski 2, Nunnally 13, Bartley 15, Charalampopoulos 7.
Marousi prevails over Aris
In the first match of the day, Marousi achieved a bit of an upset by defeating Aris with a score of 87-80. Marousi was in the lead from the start, and although Aris threatened in the final moments, they couldn’t bridge the gap.
These two teams will meet in the Greek Cup semifinals, while the other semifinal pair will be known on Wednesday. Iraklis will face Mykonos in the first match, followed by Panathinaikos against PAOK in the second.
