Panathinaikos faced a new challenge in the Greek league and, unlike on other occasions, this time the victory for the Greens was unquestionable.
A 68–84 win for Ataman’s team against Panionios in a game that was dominated from start to finish by the visitors.
Despite 18 points from Joe Thomasson and 16 from Matt Lewis, the home side never had a real chance of winning. TJ Shorts, with 11 points, led a well-balanced scoring effort for Panathinaikos.
After a 14–19 score at the end of the first quarter, Panathinaikos showed an even more dominant version in the second quarter, going into halftime with a 27–42 lead.
The break changed nothing, and the advantage stretched to 30 points at 37–67, effectively sealing the game with still 10 minutes remaining.
