The disciplinary fallout from the Greek League Finals continues, with the Hellenic Standing Committee for the Prevention of Violence (DEAB) handing out sanctions to Kendrick Nunn, Tyrique Jones, Panathinaikos and Olympiacos following incidents during and after Game 5 of the championship series.
Olympiacos center Tyrique Jones received fines totaling €100,000, while Panathinaikos star Kendrick Nunn was fined €50,000. Both clubs were also sanctioned with one home game behind closed doors due to repeat offenses during the 2025-26 season.
The announced sanctions do not conclude the disciplinary process, however. DEAB’s rulings concern administrative penalties, while additional sporting sanctions, including potential suspensions for the players involved, are expected to be determined separately by the Greek League Sports Judge.
According to the official announcement, Jones was fined €50,000 for an incident late in the third quarter after he “approached Kendrick Nunn in a threatening manner” and, after making head-to-head contact, “violently pushed him by the neck,” leading to his ejection from the game.
The American big man was then hit with an additional €50,000 fine for his role in a confrontation that occurred near the locker rooms after both players had been ejected. DEAB stated that the verbal exchange quickly escalated into “mutual threatening movements and shoving with a clear intention to engage in a fight.”
Nunn was fined €50,000 for his participation in the same postgame altercation, while Panathinaikos received a one-game closed-door sanction because of prior disciplinary violations involving club owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos earlier in the season. Olympiacos was handed the same punishment as a repeat offender following a previous sanction involving head coach Georgios Bartzokas.
The penalties may therefore not be the last stemming from the Finals. DEAB also announced that Panathinaikos, Mathias Lessort and Jerian Grant have been summoned to a hearing on June 22 regarding a separate incident involving players, club officials and police officers in the locker room area immediately after Game 5.
The latest sanction means Panathinaikos is currently set to begin next season with four domestic games behind closed doors. The Greens were already carrying previous arena bans imposed after incidents involving Giannakopoulos and Nunn’s partner during the Finals series.
