The fallout from Greece’s Stoiximan GBL Finals 2026 continues, as the official ruling has arrived with unprecedented punishments for the chaotic brawl outside the locker rooms at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, SEF. Almost a month after Tyrique Jones and Kendrick Nunn clashed, the league’s sports judge has handed down a strict verdict for both Olympiacos and Panathinaikos Aktor.
Olympiacos center Tyrique Jones received the heaviest individual blow, earning a combined seven-game suspension and a massive €54,000 fine. The disciplinary authority cited his actions as repeat offenses of insulting behavior and defamation of the sport through attempted violence.
Meanwhile, Panathinaikos star guard Kendrick Nunn drew a two-game suspension and a €4,000 fine for his role in the abusive verbal exchange. Other prominent green players, including Mathias Lessort and Jerian Grant, were completely acquitted of any wrongdoing during the post-match incident.
The heaviest damage, however, drastically reshapes the landscape of the upcoming 2026–27 domestic championship campaign. Two points were deducted from both powerhouses, while the judge hit each club with €150,000 in cumulative financial penalties. Because the league scoring system awards two points for a win and one point even for a loss, a multi-point deduction represents a massive hurdle to clear in the race for the top seed. Consequently, this structural penalty ensures that rising rival teams, including Aris Betsson and PAOK, will step onto the hardwood with an immediate, tangible advantage in the standings.
These severe league measures officially update the initial sanctions issued by the Hellenic Standing Committee for the Prevention of Violence, which previously included fines for both athletes and an order for both clubs to play one game behind closed doors.
