As Olympiacos BC announced today, Dimitris Giannakopoulos is prosecuted for his behavior on the 2nd of May at OAKA by the sports prosecutor.
The Reds made an official complaint to the authorities and now charges are pressed against Giannakopoulos, as the prosecutor decided.
According to Olympiacos BC in the following video “the owner of Panathinaikos BC couldn’t accept one more defeat and he furiously attacked the captain of our team Vasilis Spanoulis and his family by cursing and launching threats”.
Dimitris Giannakopoulos’ reaction was the following statement: “Once again Greece and all who truly love clean sport and witnessed an unethical assault and reckless intensification of spirits from Olympiakos.
Since the beginning of the season I accept blows from their side. They are trying in every way to ridicule me. Personally, I proved with my attitude that never hit first. On the few occasions when I did, I had the courage to admit my mistake. In all other controversies I am always defending myself. I decided to carve a path that will help normalize our relations and prevent violence. In this direction I will continue, because my goal is to help the sport and its development. Since the beginning of the season and the championship draw we presented our position, spreading about friendship. Since then, instead of making a step forward, they proceeded to unethical attacks, ridicule, just like after the championship game between the two teams, complaints to financial prosecutors, which proved to be coal and persistent acts to cause reactions and war.
Our attitude in all this was: No answer and no conflict. Instead, we asked for a game between our junior teams and a symbolic call to Mr Angelopoulos for a pick up game between us. Because we think that we all love our teams but above everyting else basketball is a sport. This sport they are trying to hurt. We will not follow them.
PS: As for the prosecution, any person – regardless of position and role – has vulnerabilities and thank God today who choose to fight me are fully perforated people”.
