With a 72 – 88 victory on the road, Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens defeated PAOK and won the Greek League semifinal series 3-0.

Even though PAO was trailing at half-time, with an impressive 5-19 run, Xavi Pascual’s team went up ahead by eight points (48-56) and had control of the game. PAOK could not find an answer and so Panathinaikos swept Thessalonikis’ team.

Nick Calathes was incredible Tuesday night, scoring 27 points (10/16 FG) (5/9 3FG), while also handing out nine assists, and grabbing five rebounds. Panathinaikos had five players in double-digits, as James Gist added a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.

For the home team, Phil Goss put up 15 points and five assists.

PAOK started the game off on the right foot, leading by nine points (22-13) but could not exploit this lead throughout. At the half, the hosts were leading by six points (43-37), but in the third period, the visitors gained the lead (44-45) and never looked back.

Panathinaikos will play either Olympiacos or Promitheas in the Greek League finals. Sfairopoulos’ team leads the series 2-0.
