The Lithuanian Basketball Federation informed FIBA and the Greek Basketball Federation about the current situation of Vaidas Karinauskas’ case and won’t give his letter of clearance in order to join Greek side Kimi until his case is investigated.
Per basketnews.lt, after releasing the player, the Lithuanian team’s board accused him of being involved in a betting scandal, as a friend of his had bet 2.000 euros on his poor performance in two different companies (Karinauskas had just two points with 1/6 FG in the game vs. Dijon for BCL).
“We have informed FIBA and the Greek Basketball Federation about the possible violations. Until we receive a response from them, we will not give the letter of clearance, ”said LKF’s Public Relations Manager, Vaidotas Zajarskas, according to the report.
