Keith Langford opens up to Eurohoops: Signing to Panathinaikos, Euroleague and the Final Four, his age, plus more!

Keith Langford has accomplished much at age 35. Both in basketball and in his personal life, including a diploma in journalism. There is more that he would like to do, and he is still trying for the best.

Eurohoops discussed with him about his life both on and off the court.

Langford has mentioned that he was supposed to join Panathinaikos last season, though fate has turned things in different ways. The player explains:

“There is a saying that “it is better to be lucky than good”. In this business, second chances do not occur very often. I call it “luck”. The main thing is that I ended up here and I’m happy about it.”

A two-time Alphonso Ford Top Scorer award winner in EuroLeague like Langford is weird to have missed the Final Four, though he knows the answer for that.

“It’s mainly about the fact that many times in my career I have made my choice based on the financial rather than playing on the bigger team. That’s because I’ve always felt that because I’m not a European, I would have to go to different places to show what I’m worth”.

Age doesn’t seem to matter much for Langford, who feels excited about the new season.

“It is the normal evolution of things. Everybody grows old, whatever they do. But I personally think I can do something that Euroleague has never seen before. A 35-year-old still playing at the level that I can play. I am excited to show it. It’s not something that adds pressure to me this year”.

Amongst all things, Langford rated his interview with Eurohoops and also shared his vision of following the profession, if he wasn’t a basketball player.

“I’d be definitely writing about sports, but with a social aspect to it. I’m not interested in “Oh, he’s a good player,” “He’s a bad player.” I do not really care about that. Sports with social commentary, that’s what interests me”
