The best season in Real Madrid‘s basketball section history is a fact. The “Whites” got the 3-0 sweep in the finals of Liga Endesa over Barcelona and ended its season as the Euroleague and Spanish champion, having won also the Spanish Cup and the Supercup.

The finish was the icing on the cake, as Real got the 88-83 road win against its arch-rival Barcelona. Once more Juan Carlos Navarro was missing due to injury, Barca tried to defend its gym and thanks to a big game by Ante Tomic (29 p.) was close to its first win in the finals. Twice Tomic made a three points game in the closing seconds, but first Jaycee Carroll (88-83) and then Sergio Llull with two free throws (90-85) sealed the outcome.

Carroll with 19 points was the top scorer of the winners and four more players scored in double digits. It was the first time in the last 21 years that Real Madrid beats Barcelona in the finals with a sweep and the best season of the club in the last 41 years. Sergio Llull was named the MVP of the finals.
