The Last16 of Eurochallenge is over and Finland’s Joensuun Kataja is the biggest surprise of the competition so far. The Finns beat already qualified Pinar Karsiyaka (87-79) and got the ticket to the quarterfinals thanks to Gaz Metan Medias win over Ventspils (67-58). As for the title contenders, Krasnye Krylia the only unbeaten team in Last16, seems to be the favorite. The quarterfinal couples are the following: Karsiyaka – Paris Levallois, Joensuun Kataja – Gravelines, Krasnye Krylia – Telekom Bonn, EWE Baskets Oldenburg – Khimik. The quarterfinals best of three series will be played on the 12th, the 14th and the 19th of March if a third game is needed.
