New year started with a defeat for Panathinaikos, as the Greens lost in Salonika to PAOK. As the final 71-54 shows thanks to a great second half the hosts got to the win with relative ease. Marc Carter scored 18 points and Vangelis Margaritis made the difference with a double double (16 p., 11 r.).
James Gist with 18 points was the only player of Panathinaikos who scored in double digits, while Dimitris Diamantidis in 24 minutes of action had 0 points with 0/3 threes, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 turnovers. After this result for a game which was postponed from the sixth gameday, Olympiacos is alone on top (10-1), Panathinaikos follows at 9-2 and PAOK is third with 8-2.
