Six minutes before the end the game was tied, but Maccabi Tel Aviv found the way and got the 73-66 win against Zalgiris Kaunas. Τhe Israelis after an 11-2 run got a 69-60 advantage and that proven to be enough, as Zalgiris couldn’t get back into a striking distance.
Sylven Landesberg was the top scorer of the winners with 20 points, however Alex Tyus was the key player with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 blocks. Zalgiris captain Paulius Jankunas (18 p., 13 r.) did the best he could, cut the lead of Maccabi to five (71-66) with one minute left, but that was the closer Zalgiris could get in the closing seconds.
